Announcements

Hello Donkey Friends,

We have just a few days until the third annual WCMDC!  Things are shaping up to be another great show.

Trot for the Cure

We’re very excited to announce the debut of Trot for the Cure to benefit Cancer research!  Participants and their donkeys will compete in the Ribbon Run, a timed, in-hand event featuring jumps, cones, and barrels.  Participants will be divided into two teams – guys vs. gals.  Each participant will complete the Ribbon Run, and the team with the fastest, average time wins 50% of the jackpot.  If the guys win, 50% of the jackpot proceeds will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and if the gals claim victory, 50% of the jackpot proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Breast Cancer Research.

The Ribbon Run rules are simple.  A $10 donation per donkey entered is requested.  Anyone may participate in the Ribbon Run, even if they are not entered to show during the WCMDC.  You may enter more than one donkey.  For those donkeys under three, we will use ground poles instead of jumps.  Any gait is allowed.  Knockdowns and refusals will result in a 5 second penalty.  Show clothes and silver not required, but closed-toe shoes and gloves are mandatory.

The Ribbon Run will take place after Saturday night’s BBQ.  Please note that entering the Ribbon Run isn’t the only way to donate – we’ll also have a donation jars available.

Friday and Saturday Night BBQs

Join your fellow competitors for a delicious catered BBQ dinner on Friday and Saturday night.  We’ll get to enjoy great food and the great outdoors as we dine with friends in the grassy picnic area under the giant redwoods.  On Friday night, Denny will be serving up BBQ chicken and pasta.  Saturday’s menu will feature BBQ tri-tip and ranch style beans.  Both meals will also include green salad, bread, garden fixings, dessert, ice tea, and water.  Tickets are just $15 per person, per night.  If you would like to join us, please RSVP by SUNDAY, JUNE 20, by contacting Renee Smith at (530) 692-0122 or rhummingbirdhill@dishmail.net.  In addition to fabulous food, we will also have a few surprises, so be sure to join us!

Photographer

The wonderful Marilyn Gregory from Dream Riders Photography will be venturing down from Oregon to shoot our show.  We’re very excited to have Marilyn join us.  She has experience photographing miniature donkey shows, and her work is superb.  In addition to photographs, Marilyn also has the capability of video taping classes.  These videos can be edited with photographs to make a one-of-a-kind DVD perfect for showcasing your donkey in action.  In addition to the action shots, we will also have a back drop set up for ribbon shots.  A price list will be available on-site.

To make the most of their trip down here, Marilyn has offered to stop by ranches throughout the state for a personal ranch photo sessions.  She has a few photo packages to choose from, so please contact Marilyn directly to learn more about the ranch sessions at (541) 826-1213 or gregory@ccountry.net.
